Kyle Schwarber Thanks Local Heroes
Before Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs, Kyle Schwarber made a special stop at Engine 49, a South Philadelphia fire department, as part of his mission to express gratitude to first responders and military personnel through his Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes program. Schwarber met this the local heroes and provided lunch for all in attendance.
Later that day, at batting practice, Schwarber also met with members from Fort Freedom, which aims to reduce the veteran suicide rate and heal the wounds of PTSD by providing transformative programs that empower veterans to reclaim their lives.
Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes was founded by Kyle and his wife, Paige, to support wellness, education and crisis needs for police, fire, military personnel and their families. To date, nearly $1 million has been raised for the cause, with efforts continuing at his upcoming Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes Block Party event on May 20 at the Union Transfer.
