Phillies Team Up with Joe Torre Safe at Home and PCADV to Raise Awareness Against Domestic Violence

Before Friday’s game against the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park, the Phillies teamed up with Baseball Hall of Famer and Safe At Home founder Joe Torre, along with the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV) and CEO Susan Higginbotham, to raise awareness and help end the cycle of domestic abuse and violence. As part of the initiative, Phillies players, staff, coaches and grounds crew wore purple shirts encouraging those suffering from abuse to reach out and seek help.

Before the game, Torre and Higginbotham met with Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly, who joined them in being honored on-field during pregame ceremonies.

Representatives from PCADV, Safe At Home, and other organizations that support victims of domestic violence were on-site during Friday’s game with information and support. Many fans also took part in a collection of basic necessities at the entrance gates to support Women Against Abuse.
