his season with a seven game hit streak (.308, 8-26)... Hit
his first home run of the season on Apr. 27 at KC... Recorded

(18-57) over that span... Of those 18 hits, nine had gone for
extra bases (6-2B, 1-3B, 2-HR)... Hit a home run in back to

Missed significant time due to a left shoulder injury
suffered in a collision at first base on May 10 with LA's Hee
Seop Choi...The injury and subsequent surgery ended his
season on July 25...Required arthroscopic surgery on May
13 to repair labral tear...Missed 33 games as he was on the
disabled list from May 12 - June 17...Batted .207 (18-for-87)
with five doubles and eight RBI in 25 games upon his return
on June 18 before being placed on DL again on July 22 (left
shoulder cuff inflammation)...Had season-ending surgery
on July 25 to repair the left shoulder labrum, performed by
Dr. Timothy Kremchek...Was voted in as a starter to play in
his 4th All-Star Game but did not attend as a precaution for
his left shoulder.
2004
Earned his sixth Gold Glove Award...Finished 4th in
National League Most Valuable Player voting...Named to

Completed his first full season with the Cardinals by
batting .286 with 28 home runs and 104 RBI in 154 games

named the third baseman on the Sporting News N.L.
All-Star team for the second straight season...Started in his

league in fan voting (1,979,936) to Albert Pujols...Paced the
team with 43 two-out RBI and was second on the club with
10 game-winning RBI... His 82 walks led the team and his

RBI)...Homered (#29) for the 4th straight game on Sept. 20

appearance, but it was a brief one, as he was forced out of
Game 2 of the Division Series when Arizona pinch runner
Alex Cintron collided with him and injured his left shoulder...
Scott homered in Game 1 off Randy Johnson...Was on
the League Championship Series roster, but was unable to
play.
2001
Won his third Gold Glove (second consecutive)...Finished
third among N.L. third basemen with .973 fielding %,
but second in putouts (104), assists (325) and total chances
(441)... Homered on Opening Day for third consecutive
year, Apr. 2 at FLA...Was named N.L. Player of the Week,
Aug. 6-12, .545 (12-for-22), eight runs, four HR and seven

his first career grand slam, July 3 vs. CHI (Sanders)...HitGW
solo HR in bottom of 9th of 5-4 win, July 7 vs. MON...His 19
HR prior to the All-Star break were most by a Phillie since
Mike Schmidt had 19 in '87...Had five strikeouts on Aug. 23
vs. SD and tied the ML record for a 9-inning game...Played
in 23 games after injuring back before being shut down for
the season...Despite injury, still ranked 4th among N.L. third
basemen in fielding%(.960) and 5th in putouts (111)...Was
examined by Dr. Robert Watkins at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in
Los Angeles on Sept. 15; bone scan and X-ray revealed a
slight tear of an annular ligament as well as a lower back
strain; surgery was not necessary.

Topped 1997 Rookie of the Year campaign in virtually
every offensive and defensive category...Became the
youngest Phillie in modern history (since 1900) to reach 100
RBI in a season...Became just the second Phillie ever to
reach 100 runs, 40 doubles, 30 HRs and 100 RBI in the
same season (Chuck Klein did it in 1929-30 & '32)...Scott's
HR (31) and RBI (110) totals made him the first Phillie to
reach 30 HR, 100 RBI in a season since Mike Schmidt in
1987 (35, 113)...Set club record for doubles by a third baseman
with 45, tying for fifth in N.L. (most by a RH Phillie since
