Signed out of the Dominican Republic as an international free agent on May 31, 2012 by Pittsburgh...Married to Annie; they have a daughter...His younger brother, Samuel, played in the Minor Leagues for Pittsburgh, Chicago-NL and Washington, recently played with Charleston Dirty Birds in the Atlantic League.

2025

Made his third career Opening Day after his contract was selected by New York-AL on March 27...All of his six hits came away from Yankee Stadium (.316 AVG, 6-for-19) and during or after the fifth inning (.240 AVG, 6-for-25)...Appeared defensively in right field (eight G/one GS), second base (six G, four GS), third base (five G, two GS) and left field (one G)...Took the mound for the fifth time in his career on May 31 at Los Angeles-NL; allowed three runs, five hits, one home run in one inning pitched...Designated for assignment on June 16 and elected free agency on June 18...Signed a Minor League deal with New York-NL, but did not reach the big leagues the rest of the season...Following the season, returned for his 10th season in the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), this time with Gigantes del Cibao, where he posted a .188 average (15-for-80) with six runs scored, three doubles, one homer and one RBI in 24 games.

In 22 combined games with Boston and New York-NL, hit .183 (11-for-60) with five runs, two doubles, five RBI, three BB and one SB...Made his second career Opening Day roster and hit .183 (11-for-60) with four runs, two doubles, five RBI, three BB and one SB in 21 games with Boston...Was DFAed on 4/29, outrighted to Triple-A Worcester on 5/6 and batted .462/.588/.692 (6-for-13) with four runs, one HR, four RBI, four BB and three SB in five games...Was acquired by the Mets in exchange for cash considerations on 5/25 and assigned to Triple-A Syracuse...In 63 games with Triple-A Syracuse, hit .290/.371/.493 (63-for-217) with 43 runs, seven doubles, two triples, 11 HR, 38 RBI, 29 BB and 12 SB...Was added to the active roster on 9/1 and appeared in one game for the Mets that same night at Chicago-AL as a pinch-runner in the ninth inning (0-for-0, 1R)…Was DFAed on 9/9 and outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse on 9/13...Following the season, played in 25 games with Toros del Este in the Dominican Winter League, hitting .258/.327/.360 (23-for-89) with 11 runs, five doubles, two triples, six RBI, nine BB and four SB.

Split the season between the Red Sox and A’s organizations, appearing in 64 ML games (all with BOS) and 28 Triple-A games...Set career highs in hits (48), runs (27), doubles (nine), RBI (20), walks (14) and steals (seven)...Recorded 16 multi-hit games, matching his career total from 2018-22...Appeared defensively at SS (31 G, 25 GS), 2B (30, 21), 3B (4 games), 1B (2 games) and DH (2 games)...Hit .327 with a .772 OPS vs. LHP (17-for-52, 4 2B)...In innings 7-9, hit .339 with an .832 OPS, including both of his HR (19-for-56, 2 2B, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 3 SB, 2 BB). Made two relief pitching appearances for BOS (5/15 vs. SEA and 8/6 vs. TOR), the second and third of his career (also 8/24/22 at LAD with MIL).

2021

Signed as a free agent with Milwaukee on 1/7...Batted .256 with one HR and three RBI in 53 games...Made 16 starts (12g at 3B, 2g at SS, 2g at 2B)...Had six stints with the team (4/26-5/21, 6/4-6/17, 6/28-6/29, 7/2-7/15, 7/27- 8/1 and 8/24-9/21)...His lone home run came 9/5 vs. St. Louis (solo off Jon Lester)...Batted .226 with four HR and 20 RBI in 34 games at Triple-A Nashville.

2020

Did not play in 2020 as he was suspended by Major League Baseball for 80 games on 2/19 after testing positive for Boldenone, a performance-enhancing substance, in violation of the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program...his suspension has officially been served despite a 60-game 2020 season.

2019

Batted .203 with two home runs and 19 RBI in 71 games with Pittsburgh…made 28 starts (12 in left field, seven in right field, five in center field, three at second base, one at third base)… made his first career Opening Day roster…notched his first career pinch-hit home run on Aug. 5 vs. Milwaukee with a two-run shot off Jordan Lyles…recorded three-hit games on Sept. 13 at Chicago (NL) and Sept. 26 vs. Chicago (NL)…also hit .286 with 10 home runs and 30 RBI in 51 games at Triple-A Indianapolis.

2018

Batted .293 with three home runs and seven RBI in 18 games with Pittsburgh…made 13 starts (seven in right field, four in left field, two at third base)…made his Major League debut on Sept.. 2 at Atlanta and flied out as a pinch-hitter…collected his first ML hit on Sept. 4 vs. Cincinnati with a single off Cody Reed…belted his first ML home run on Sept. 14 at Milwaukee with a solo shot off Gio Gonzalez…hit .284 with eight home runs, 41 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 122 games between Double-A Altoona (12 games) and Triple-A Indianapolis (110 games).

2017

Spent entire season with Double-A Altoona…led the team in stolen bases and tied for fifth in the Eastern League in that department…also finished tied for seventh among Pirates minor leaguers in runs scored and 10th in hits and home runs…went 3-for-6 with a double, two home runs and three RBI on July 15 vs. Bowie…his second blast was a walkoff homer in the 13th inning…hit a solo home run in series-clinching win in Game Three of the Western Division Series on Sept. 9 vs. Bowie…was named a Pirates Organizational All-Star by MiLB.com.

2016

Spent the entire season with Single-A Bradenton and hit .265 with five home runs and 45 RBI in 89 games…also stole 13 bases…had a .318 batting average with runners in scoring position…started 34 games at shortstop, 33 at second base, 13 at designated hitter and five in center field…batted .410 with a 1.068 OPS in 20 games in August.

2015

Spent most of his first full professional season at Single-A Stockton before he was promoted to High-A Lansing in mid-July…combined to hit .229 with 19 home runs, 70 RBI and a .757 OPS in 123 games....
