Attended Rancho Bernardo High School (Calif.)… was named Baseball America’s High School Player of the Year as a senior after batting .400/.579/.880 (40-for-100) with 45 R, seven doubles, four triples, 11 HR and 31 RBI in 35 games during his senior year… was also named by the publication as the top position player and the No. 4 overall prospect in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft.

2024

In 58 games with Tampa Bay over one stint (5/3-9/5), batted .122 (17-for-139) with 17 R, seven doubles, three HR, 12 RBI, 12 BB and one SB… in 28 games with Triple-A Durham, batted .238 (25-for-105) with 17 R, five doubles, one triple, eight HR, 20 RBI and 12 BB… following the season, signed a Minor League contract with the Cincinnati Reds on 11/5.

2023

Began the season with Triple-A Nashville and hit .286 (48-for-168) with seven 2B, one 3B, 12 HR and 35 RBI in 45 games…acquired from Milwaukee on Aug. 1 in exchange for RHP Evan McKendry…hit .281 (16-for-57) with four 2B, four HR and 10 RBI across 14 games with Triple-A Durham…was placed on the 7-day IL on Aug. 25 and missed the remainder of the season.

2022

Appeared in five games with Milwaukee last season, including three starts at catcher, during two stints (4/26-4/30 and 6/3-6/9).

2021

Hit a combined .137 (18-for-131) with four 2B, three HR and 12 RBI in 52 games between the Braves and Marlins…was acquired by the Marlins from the Braves on July 30 in exchange for OF Adam Duvall…was on the injured list from May 2-June 23 with a strained left hamstring…transferred to the 60-day IL on June 24 and reinstated on July 20. 

2020

In his second major-league season, played in five games and hit .286/.286/.429 (2-for-7) with one double...Had four separate stints with Atlanta… Spent the rest of the season at the club’s alternate training site...Was the Braves’ Opening Day catcher on 7/24 at New York-NL…At 24 years, 212 days, became the eighth Braves catcher younger than 25 to start on Opening Day since the franchise relocated to Atlanta in 1966...Was recalled prior to the game after catchers Travis d’Arnaud and Tyler Flowers were placed on the COVID-related injured list for precautionary reasons...Recorded his first major-league hit on 7/28 at Tampa Bay, doubling of Yonny Chirinos…Singled in his next at-bat...Began his career 0-for-17... Drew a start in three of the Braves’ first five games…Came on as a defensive replacement and pinch runner in his other two appearances...Ended the season ranked by MLB.com as the Braves’ No. 21 prospect.

In his third season in the Braves organization, and his sixth in professional baseball, made his major league debut…Had two separate stints with Atlanta, totaling four games…Spent the rest of the season with Triple-A Gwinnett... Recalled for the first time on 4/7 when C Brian McCann went on the injured list… Made his major league debut that night against Miami and went 0-for-3…Became just the 10th Braves catcher to start his big league debut since the team moved to Atlanta in 1966... Reached base for the first time with an intentional walk on 4/8 at Colorado… Made another start on 4/13, and was then optioned on 4/17... Was also recalled on 8/21…Started on 8/23 against New York's Jacob deGrom and was optioned three days later... In 85 games with Gwinnett, hit .229/.313/.533 (70-for-306)…Hit a career-best 28 home runs, the second most on the team and tied for the fifth most in the International League…Also matched his single-season career most with 65 RBI... Had a team-most five multi-homer games…Had two such games in the first five years of his career... Led the team with 18 hit-by-pitches…Only one other player in the IL had more... Named by the organization as the Stripers' Player of the Month for July…Batted .306/.393/.708 (22-for-72) with nine home runs and 23 RBI in 22 games... Had two two-homer games in a fivegame span, 7/11 and 7/15…Drove in a single-game career most six runs in the first of those games, at Charlotte, part of a four-hit night... Split the season between Triple-A Gwinnett and Double-A Mississippi, hitting a combined .201 with eight home runs and a .647 OPS in 99 games ... Began the season with the M-Braves before joining the Stripers on 7/15…Hit .200 (45-for-225) with five home runs in 64 Double-A games ... Finished the season with the Stripers, making his Triple-A debut on 7/16 vs. Indianapolis ... Went 4-for-31 (.129) against Triple-A lefties…Hit .234 (18-for-77) against righties at that level ... Threw out 24 of 84 combined base stealers (28.6%) ... Added to the 40-man roster on 11/2.

2017

Split the season between Single-A Florida and Double-A Mississippi in his first season in the Braves organization…Earned mid-season All-Star honors while with the Fire Frogs…Also named by Baseball America as a High Class-A All-Star...Moved back behind the plate after playing the outfield during his time in Seattle's organization... Caught in high school...Combined to hit .267 (98-for-367) with a career-best 19 home runs and 65 RBI despite missing a month (5/19-6/19) with a left wrist sprain…His 19 home runs were the fourth most by a Braves minor leaguer...Started the year with Florida, and hit .301 (46-for-153) with 10 home runs before injuring his wrist…Missed the All-Star game due to his injury...Made his Double-A debut on 7/30 and spent the remainder of the season with the M-Braves...Caught 16 of a combined 77 (21%) potential base stealers...Played for Peoria in the Arizona Fall League…Named to the AFL All-Prospect team after hitting .263 with five home runs and 16 RBI in 20 games.
