Attended Greenway High School (Phoenix, Ariz.). Forewent his commitment to Arizona State University, instead signed with the Cincinnati Reds after being selected by the club in the 27th round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft.

2023

27 year-old Alejo Lopez completed his third Major League season (all with Cincinnati)...Appeared in one game with the club, Sept. 9 vs. St. Louis...Was on the big league roster for a total of three days...First, on Aug. 29-30, but did not appear, before being designated for assignment on Aug. 31 (club claimed OF Harrison Bader from New York-AL and OF Hunter Renfroe from Los Angeles-AL)...Was recalled again on Sept. 9, making his lone appearance in that night's game...Was a non-roster invitee to Major League Spring Training camp by Cincinnati...Had been designated for assignment on Feb. 8, when the club acquired OF Will Benson from Cleveland...Cleared waivers on Feb. 14 and was assigned to Triple-A Louisville...Slashed .292/.401/.410 (136-for-466) in 125 games with Triple-A Louisville...He hit seven home runs, 30 doubles and two triples, while recording 43 RBI and 76 runs...Went 18-for-22 in stolen base attempts...Led Triple-A Louisville in batting average, hits and walks (79)...Was tied for the team lead in runs, while ranking second in doubles, third in stolen bases and fourth in extra-base hits (39)...Produced a 42-game on-base streak, spanning June 8-Aug. 12...Matched 2010 National League MVP and six-time All-Star Joey Votto's Triple-A Louisville club record, set in 2007... In his four stints with the Reds made 22 starts at 2B, four starts at 3B, seven starts at DH and his only career start in LF (9/23 vs Mil)... Made his first two career appearances in RF (5/4 at Mil, 8/31 vs StL)... In 29 appearances and 19 starts after his 8/9 promotion hit .274 (3 2b, 1 3b, 1hr, 9rbi)...was the longest of his four stints on the Reds' roster... From 9/12-9/24 did not strike out in 27 consecutive plate appearances...was the third-longest active streak in the Major Leagues when snapped... In the ninth inning of the 11-4 loss on 8/16 vs Phi came off the bench to make the first pitching appearance of his Major League career...on just three pitches retired both batters faced (Bryson Stott P5, Rhys Hoskins FC/6-4)... Also pitched in the 13-4 loss on 8/29 vs St. Louis and 10-2 loss on 9/24 vs Mil... In the 7-6 loss on 9/11 at Mil, in a start at DH produced an RBI-double and his first Major League home run (2-run off Peter Strzelecki)...his three RBI and three runs scored were career highs...
