Made his second consecutive Opening Day roster (also: 2023 w/ NY) and posted a career-high 26 appearances across two separate stints with the Padres...25 of his 26 appearances came during his first stint from March 20 to June 23…optioned to Triple-A El Paso on June 24 and was recalled Aug. 10…tossed 2.1 scoreless innings Aug. 10 at MIA before being optioned back to ELP on Aug. 11...He tossed 2.0+ IP in exactly half of his ML outings (13 of 26), owning a 2.27 ERA (8 ER, 31.2 IP) and 1.11 WHIP when throwing 2.0+ IP...After allowing six ER (13.50 ERA) across his first four big league outings (4.0 IP), he allowed 14 ER across his final 22 appearance (39.2 IP - 3.18 ERA)…Has walked 10 of his 185 batters faced, owning a 5.4 BB% that lead all Padres pitchers (min. 25 appearances)…His four-seamer averaged 96.3 mph and ranked in the 84th percentile in fastball velocity league-wide, limiting the opposition to a .211 AVG (8-for-38) and just two XBH (one 2B, two HR) against the pitch...Had significant reverse splits, limiting LHH to a .187/.247/.360 slash line while RHH batted .357/.279/.408...Made six starts for El Paso in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, going 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA (14 ER, 14.0 IP) and .349 AVG against…the Chihuahuas went 1-5 across his six starts...Placed on the 60-day IL on Sept. 22 with a right elbow strain, ending his season.
