Born in Miami, Fla…his parents are Henry and Rossana Vilar, and he has two sisters, Regina and Sophia...Played baseball at the University of Miami primarily as a second baseman from 2019-21 before being drafted by the Padres in June 2021…his father, Henry, also played baseball at the University of Miami from 1990-91...Played in the Cape Cod League during the summer of 2019 for the Chatham Anglers...Previously drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 37th round of the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft before enrolling at Miami...Went to high school at Westminster Christian just south of Miami, where he was a member of the State Championship team in 2015, and was team MVP after both his junior and senior seasons...hit .457 with 12 home runs as a senior, batted .500 with 10 home runs as a junior and hit .355 as a sophomore...Proposed to his fiancée, Emily, on Christmas Day in 2024.

Opened the season with High-A Fort Wayne (74 G) before being assigned to Double-A San Antonio (26 G) on Aug. 6...Recorded career highs in games (100), at-bats (329), runs (49), hits (75), doubles (12), triples (three), extra-base hits (22), RBI (49), walks (62), strikeouts (108) and batting average (.228)…his seven home runs were tied for a career best (also: 2023)…His highest batting clip in a calendar month came in July for Fort Wayne, when he hit .300 (21-for-70) across 20 games with four doubles, one triple, two homers, 11 runs, 13 RBI and 14 walks while hitting ….hit .050 in April (8 G), .296 in May (20 G) and .244 in June (22 G)…Hit .284 in day games (19-for-67) compared to a .255 clip (41-for-161) in night contests...Logged single-game career highs with four RBI on May 3 at Lake County Captains and four hits on July 2 at Lansing…also collected his first-career multi-steal (two) game on Aug. 1 vs. the West Michigan...Played most of the season at catcher (59 games, 57 starts), where he posted a .974 fielding percentage (15 errors, 581 total chances) behind the dish...Posted a 36.3 catcher caught stealing percentage (33 CCS in 91 attempts)…Also spent time at other positions around the infield diamond, appearing at first base (14 games, 13 games started), second base (19 games, all starts), third base (2 games, both starts), and SS (two games, both starts)…Pitched 2.2 innings in relief across three games in which he gave up just one hit and one walk...Following the season, played for the Gigantes de Carolina in the Puerto Rican Winter League where he hit .368 (25-for-68) in 21 games played…started eight games at second base, five games at shortstop, three games at third base and three games at catcher.

Began the season with Single-A Lake Elsinore (44 G) before being promoted to High-A Fort Wayne (29 G) on June 27 to finish out the 2023 campaign...Slashed .378/.509/.733 over 14 games in April with Lake Elsinore while collecting five doubles, three home runs, 12 RBI, 10 runs and 12 walks...Posted a seven-game hitting streak from April 19-28 (.417, 10-for-24, 10 hits, four doubles, one home run, six RBI, six runs and five walks)…Had reverse splits, hitting .304 (14-for-46) vs. southpaws as opposed to hitting .198 (36-for-182) against righties...With the TinCaps, hit safely in seven straight games from July 28 through Aug. 11 where he went 8-for-23 (.348) with two doubles, two home runs, six RBI, five walks and three runs scored...Defensively between both stops, all 66 of his appearances/ starts and 567.2 innings played came at catcher, where he recorded a .981 fielding percentage (13 errors, 695 total chances)…Fielded career bests in games played (66), games started (66), innings played (567.2) and assists (49), all of which were played at Catcher...Posted a 26% CCS, throwing out 26 base stealers in 100 attempts.

Spent the entire season with High-A Fort Wayne where he hit .226 (38-for-168) over 54 games...Recorded a six-game hitting streak from June 29 through July 14 in which he hit .300 (6-for-20)...Hit .254 (31-for-122) vs. righties with nine extra-base hits, 14 RBI and 25 walks…hit just .152 (7-for-46) with three extra-base hits, one RBI and five walks against lefties...Posted an errorless campaign in 474 total chances across 49 games at catcher and one game at second base (three total chances).
2021
Made his professional debut with the Rookie-Level Arizona Complex League Padres, where he hit .217 (5-for-23) in eight games with three extra-base hits, one RBI, three runs and five walks...Started at catcher in seven of the eight games he played, with his other start coming as the DH.
