**Coaching Career** David returns to the Royals Major League coaching staff as the club's assistant hitting coach in 2013...previously worked as the Royals Major League hitting coach from May 30, 2005 to May 1, 2006...is in his 16th season with the organization...Under the coordination of hitting coach Jack Maloof and David, the Royals have developed several of the top hitting prospects in the minor leagues including 2012 American League All-Star Billy Butler, 2006 Baseball America and Topps Minor League Player of the Year Alex Gordon, 2010 Baseball America Player of the Year finalist Eric Hosmer, 2010 minor league home run leader Mike Moustakas and 2012 USA Today, Baseball America and Topps Minor League Player of the Year Wil Myers...Most recently worked as the hitting coach for the Surprise Royals (R) in the Arizona League...Following his time on the Major League staff, returned to his post as the club's minor league hitting coordinator where he worked through the 2009 season...Worked as the Royals minor league hitting instructor from 2001 until being named as the big league hitting coach in 2005...Joined the Royals organization in 1998 as the manager for the Gulf Coast Royals (R)...managed Gulf Coast in 1998, 1999 and the latter part of the 2000 campaign...led the club to the playoffs in 1999...Afterretiring from his playing career,spent five seasons in the New York Mets organization from 1990-1994, serving as a hitting instructor in 1990 and 1993 and as a manger at Kingsport (R) in 1991 and 1992...worked for St. Lucie (A) as a coach in 1994. **Playing Career** Spent parts oftwo seasonsin theMajorLeagueswith the Minnesota Twinsin 1984 and 1986...outfielder batted .245 in his career with a home run and 5 RBI in 53 at bats...His first Major League hit was a home run on June 29, 1984 off the Tigers'Jack Morris...at the time, became the fourth Twin, 24th American Leaguer and 49th Major League to homer in his first big league at bat...Did not commit an error in his Major League career...Appeared in the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers organizations before retiring in 1989...Drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the eighth round of the 1980 Draft. **Miscellaneous Notes** Andre and his wife, Lisa, reside in Surprise, Ariz...the couple has two daughters, Brittany and Tanner...Graduated from Chatsworth (Calif.)
