Full name CAL PAUL QUANTRILL...Wife, Eastin...Son of Alyson and Paul Quantrill, a former Padre and 14-year MLB veteran pitcher and 2001 American League All-Star...Paul tied or led the AL in appearances over four straight seasons, 2001-04, and is sixth in Toronto club history in appearances (386)…Cal was a four-time varsity letterman in baseball at Trinity College in Ontario, Canada...Lettered twice in hockey and volleyball...Played for Team Canada 18-U for three years, competing in two World Championships and a World Qualifier (Seoul, Taichung and Cartagena)…In 2014, became the first freshman pitcher to start Opening Day for Stanford University since Mike Mussina in 1998...Led Cardinal in IP (110.2) and SO (98) and was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and to the All-Pac-12 Team...As a sophomore in 2015, was on the Golden Spikes Award preseason watch list and began the season 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA (3 GS) before undergoing Tommy John surgery on March 20, 2015...Missed his junior season while recovering from surgery...Has never been on the IL in his professional career.

Split his first professional season between the AZL Padres (R), Tri-City (A) and Fort Wayne (A), pitching to a combined 0-5 record with a 5.11 ERA (21 ER, 37.0 IP) with 46 SO against eight BB his 12 games (all starts)...Posted a 3.57 ERA (14 ER, 35.1 IP) through his first 11 starts between the AZL Padres, Tri-City and Fort Wayne before allowing a career-high seven earned runs in his final start of the season on 9/5 at Bowling Green.
