Cal Stevenson was originally signed by Blue Jays scout Darold Brown…is married, Rebekah, and has one child…graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Fremont, Calif. where he was a four-year letter winner in baseball under his father and head coach, Jim Stevenson.…attended Nevada-Reno, Chabot JC and the University of Arizona…earned First-Team CCCAA honors at Chabot in 2016 and was an honorable mention All-Pac-12 selection in 2017.

Was acquired from Tampa Bay on July 9 and made his Major League debut with the A’s in August, batting .167 with three doubles, one RBI and a .478 OPS in 23 games…added eight walks for a .261 on-base percentage....Hit .164 (9-for-55) with a .484 OPS against right-handed pitchers…was 1-for-5 (.200) with a .400 OPS against left-handers....Batted .222 with a .563 OPS in 10 games in Oakland, .121 with a .408 OPS in 13 games on the road....Went 1-for-10 (.100) with runners in scoring position....Made 19 starts, all in center field…also appeared in two games in right field and one in left field…did not commit an error nor have an assist in 22 games overall in the outfield....Was 0-for-2 as a pinch hitter....Made seven starts batting eight and ninth, four hitting leadoff and one in the seven spot....Began the season at Triple-A Durham in the Tampa Bay organization and was hitting .265 with two home runs and 17 RBI in 57 games when he was traded to Oakland on July 9 with Christian Fernandez for Christian Bethancourt…batted .322 with four home runs and 19 RBI in 24 games with the Aviators…combined to hit .284 with six home runs, 36 RBI and an .801 OPS in 81 games overall at Triple-A....Drew 45 walks and was hit by a pitch once to fuel a .389 on-base percentage....Was successful in 16-of-19 (84.2%) stolen base attempts and has now reached double figures in steals in each of his four Minor League seasons....Batted .332 (61-for-184) with five of his six home runs and a .928 OPS against right-handed pitchers compared to .164 (12-for-73) with a .478 OPS against left-handers....Had a .353 batting average with runners in scoring position…connected for four of his six home runs with runners on base....Combined to hit .311 in his home ballparks....Batted .250 with two strikes…had a .472 batting average and 1.378 OPS on a 3-2 count with 24 walks and seven strikeouts....Started 48 games in center field, 18 in left field and 10 in right field…did not commit an error in 78 games overall in the outfield…had seven assists…has not committed an error in his last 169 minor league games in the outfield dating back to his last miscue in the first game of an Aug. 31, 2019 doubleheader at Down East....Batted in every spot in the order except the three through five spots and had his most at bats with 46 games batting ninth..DAY-BY-DAY: Began the season at Triple-A Durham in the Tampa Bay organization and went 0-for-12 over his first three games…then had a season-high 16-game reaching base streak from April 9 to May 4…hit .349 with a .525 on-base percentage during the streak…drew a walk in nine consecutive games from April 10 to 24 (14 walks total)…hit .239 in April but walked 16 times in 17 games for a .435 on-base percentage…struck out a season-high three times May 11 against Gwinnett…had a .422 on-base percentage over his first 25 games through May 12…then went 12-for-48 (.250) with three walks (.288 on-base percentage) over his next 14 contests through June 4…had a season-high 10-game hitting streak from June 8 to 26…went 11-for-32 (.344) with seven runs scored, six RBI and five walks during the streak…then went 4-for-20 (.200) over his next eight games before he was traded to Oakland on July 9 with fellow minor leaguer Christian Fernandez for Christian Bethancourt…was assigned to Las Vegas following the trade and hit .238 with a .377 on-base percentage over his first 12 games through Aug. 3…laced a career-high two triples and scored a season-high three runs July 13 against Salt Lake…stole a season-high two bases July 26 at Albuquerque…went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI Aug. 7 against Reno…it was his second career two-homer game (July 10, 2021 at Rocket City) and the hits were a season-high…was batting .305 with a .417 on-base percentage in 16 games with Las Vegas when he was selected by Oakland on Aug. 10…made his ML debut that day against Los Angeles (AL) with a start in center field and went 1-for-3 with a walk…singled off Aaron Loup in the sixth inning for his first big league hit…hit safely in his first two games (2-for-5) but then went 1-for-18 over his next seven contests…stole his first base on Aug. 15 at Texas…collected his first extra base hit the next day against the Rangers, a double, but also struck out a career-high three times…had his first career two-hit game on Aug. 20 against Seattle and drove in the first run of his career the next day against the Mariners on a second inning sacrifice fly…was hitting .167 with a .261 on-base percentage in 23 games when he was optioned to Las Vegas on Sept. 6…went 10-for-28 (.357) with nine runs and 11 RBI over his final eight games…drove in a minor league career-high five runs Sept. 8 at Sacramento.
