Made 28 apps and 11 starts during his 3 stints with the Reds (5/23-6/9, 7/11-8/8, 9/2-end of season)...made 5 starts at 1B, 4 starts in LF, 1 start in RF and 1 start at DH...in the order made starts batting fifth (3gs), sixth (2gs), seventh (4gs) and eighth (2gs)...began the season at Class AA Pensacola and was promoted to Class AAA Louisville on 5/17...was recalled on 5/23, when Joey Votto was disabled and Neftali Soto was optioned to Louisville...made 7 apps and 4 starts for the Reds before he returned to Louisville on 6/10, when Votto came off the DL...joined Cin a second time on 7/11, when Skip Schumaker was disabled...made 11 more apps and 4 more starts before he was optioned back to Louisville on 8/9, when C Tucker Barnhart was recalled following an injury to Bryan Pena...rejoined the team as 1 of 10 September callups and made 10 more apps and 3 starts...in Pensacola's 17-1 win on 4/21 at Jacksonville hit for the cycle for the third time in his career...following the season played for Obregon in the Mexican Winter League (55g, .280, 16 2b, 3 3b, 6hr, 26rbi, 2sb).

Spent most of the season at Pensacola but made his Major League debut with 34 apps for the Reds...from 4/29-6/24, while Chris Heisey was disabled, made all 34 apps and 7 starts (6gs in LF, 1gs in RF on 5/14 at Mia)...began the season at Class AA Pensacola and made 21 apps there before he was recalled on 4/29, when Heisey was injured...returned to Pensacola on 6/25, when Heisey came off the DL...spent the rest of the minor league season with the Blue Wahoos...on 4/29 at StL made his Major League debut as a pinch hitter and grounded out off Adam Wainwright...became the first German-developed player to appear in a Major League game...on 5/1 at StL made his first career start (LF, 0-4)...on 5/5 at Chi recorded his first career hit (single off Shawn Camp), RBI (run-scoring fielder's choice off Kameron Loe) and stolen base...in the 5-1 win on 5/12 vs Mil hit his first career HR, a 3-run shot off Wily Peralta that snapped the scoreless tie...was 1 of 7 Reds players to make his Major League debut (OF Derrick Robinson, RHP Justin Freeman, IF Neftali Soto, RHP Curtis Partch, RHP Nick Christiani, OF Billy Hamilton)...from 8/13-8/22 was on Pensacola's disabled list with a fractured left index finger...following the season played for Obregon in the Mexican Pacific League (35g, .271, 5 2b, 1 3b, 4hr, 15rbi, 1sb).

In 103 apps at Class A Bakersfield and Class AA Pensacola combined to hit .256 (23 2b, 22hr, 66rbi) ... in June also made 4 rehab apps in the Arizona League while recovering from a strained oblique ... was a mid-season California League All-Star ... led all Reds minor leaguers in home runs (22) and ranked third in RBI (71) ... following the minor league season played for Germany in the 2013 World Baseball Classic qualifying round in Regensburg, Germany and hit safely in 3 of his 4 apps ... played for the Arizona Fall League champion Peoria Javelinas (11g, .395, 3 2b, 1 3b, 1hr, 4rbi, 2sb) ... from 10/15-10/21 was the AFL's Player of the Week after leading all players in hitting (.556), hits (10), slugging (.833) and total bases (15).

2011

At Class A Dayton ranked among Midwest League leaders in runs scored (85, T3rd), total bases (229, T4th) and batting average (.301, 7th)...among all Reds Minor Leaguers ranked T2nd in HR (20) and seventh in hitting...was the Reds' Minor League Player of the Month for August (29g, .374, 3hr, 29rbi, 2sb, .932ops)...hit .257 the first half of the season (60g, 9hr, 24rbi) and .340 over the second half (63g, 11hr, 51rbi)...on 7/21 vs Peoria became the first player in Dayton history to hit for the cycle...from 7/5-7/25 put together a 16-game hitting streak (.387)...on 11/18 was added to the 40-man roster.

Following the season played for Canberra in the Australian League.

While with the GCL Reds, on 7/10 at Twins hit for the cycle.
