Began the season on the ML disabled list with left elbow inflammation...After a 2-game rehab assignment between Triple-A Pawtucket and Single-A Greenville in mid-June, spent remainder of the year with the PawSox. Threw 3.0 scoreless IP with 3 SO over a 2-game rehab assignment between Greenville and Pawtucket from 6/9-12...Was activated from the DL and optioned to the PawSox on 6/13. Went 3-3 with a 5.07 ERA (28 ER/49.2 IP) and 24 SO in 19 total games (7 starts) with Pawtucket, including the rehab appearance. After beginning the year in relief, started 6 of his final 7 outings...Went 3-2 with a 3.90 ERA (13 ER/30.0 IP) from the rotation, allowing 1 or 0 ER in 3 of the 6 starts. Earned the win in 3 of his final 4 starts for the PawSox, posting a 3.27 ERA (8 ER/22.0 IP). Made 7 appearances (all starts) for Cardenales de Lara in the Venezuelan Winter League after the season.

Split the season between Class A Advanced San Jose and double-A Richmond, going a combined 8-8 with a 2.78 ERA (40er, 128.2ip) and 146 strikeouts in 26 outings (24 starts). He made 16 appearances (14 starts) with San Jose, posting a 3-4 mark with a 2.86 ERA (24er, 74.2ip) and 92 strikeouts. Was one of seven San Jose Giants to be named to the California League All-Star team. He hurled a shutout in four of his 10 starts with double-A Richmond. Between his two stops in San Jose and Richmond, Escobar struck out 146 batters compared to just 30 walks in 128.2 innings. Owned a 2.16 ERA through the first five starts of his season, but received a no-decisions in each outing. Was named California League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on July 7...Escobar made two starts and did not allow an earned run in a combined 13.0 innings pitched, while striking out 14 batters. Was promoted to double-A Richmond on July 10...at the time of his promotion, Escobar ranked third in Cal League in ERA (2.89) and had a 92-to-17 K/BB ratio in 74.0 innings pitched. Was selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 29th-Aug. 4th ... Escobar made just one start during the week, as he fired 7.0-shutout innings against New Hampshire ... he allowed just one hit, retirin 21 of the 22 batters that he faced. He rode a string of 16.1-scoreless innings over three outing from July 23-Aug. 3. Posted a 3.68 ERA (9er, 22.0ip) in 17 outings (two starts) for Cardenales de Lara in the Venezuelan Winter League.

southpaw went 7-8 with a 2.96 ERA along with 122
strikeouts in 22 starts for Class A Augusta. Ranked third in the South Atlantic League with a 2.96 ERA. Was named SAL Pitcher of the Week for Aug. 20-27 after tossing 8.0-shutout innings with nine strikeouts in a 4-0 win over Charleston on Aug. 19. 11 of his 22 starts were quality outings. Was extremely tough on left-handed hitters,holding them to a .207 avg. against (28-for-135).
2011
Split the 2011 campaign between Class A Augusta and rookie-level Arizona. Missed nearly three weeks of the season from April 24-May 13 with a laceration on his left hand. Played for the Cardenales de Lara of the Venezuelan winter league following the 2011 season.
2010
Spent the entire 2010 season with short-season Salem-Keizer, going 2-4 with a 4.86 ERA in 14 starts.
