Jeter Deion Downs...Graduated from Pace High School in Miami, Fla...His mother chose the name “Jeter” in honor of former shortstop Derek Jeter.

2022

Was recalled on June 20 and made his Major League debut on June 22 vs. Detroit...Was optioned following the game...Enjoyed two Major League stints with Boston...Was recalled on July 9...Arrived during the game vs. New York (NL)…Recorded his first Major League hit in the game, an RBI-single in the 10th inning (Peralta) before scoring the game-winning run...Also scored the game-tying run in the eighth inning as a pinch runner... Hit his first big league home run on July 17 at New York (NL), a two-run homer off Gerrit Cole in the third inning...Appeared defensively at second base (8 G), third base (6 G) and shortstop (3 G)...Was optioned back to Triple-A Worcester on July 30.

2021

Attended Major League Spring Training camp as a non-roster invitee...Hit .278 (5-for-18) with two HR and five RBI in 19 Grapefruit League games...Spent the entire season with Worcester, his first experience at the Triple-A level...Prior to 2021, had played in just 12 games at the Double-A level, with Tulsa in the LAD system in 2019...Made 78 starts at SS and 21 at 2B...Ranked second on the club in games played (99), at-bats (357), and plate appearances (405)...Was 18-for-21 (85.7%) in stolen base attempts...Ranked T-2nd among Red Sox minor leaguers in steals...Played for Colombia in the WBSC Americas Olympic Baseball Qualifier, starting at SS in the club’s loss to Venezuela on 6/1...Selected to the 2021 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Coors Field on 7/11...Went 1-for-2 with a two-run double and scored once...Homered twice on 6/13 at Syracuse, his 3rd career multi-HR game (did so twice in 2019)...Recorded a season-high four RBI on 7/30 vs. Buffalo, going 2-for-4 with a double and a HR...Following the season, played in 16 games for Scottsdale in the Arizona Fall League...Ranked 2nd on the team in HR (5), RBI (14), walks (14), and steals (tied, 4)...Made eight starts at 2B, five at SS and three at DH...Homered in five consecutive games for Scottsdale from 10/15-25...Drew at least one walk in each of his first 10 games...In nine October games, recorded a .500 OBP.

Began the season with High-A Rancho Cucamonga...Had a season-high 5 RBI on 4/18 vs. San Jose...Hit 2 HR on 5/4 at San Jose...Collected a season-high 4 hits twice: 5/15 at Lancaster (4-for-5) and 8/11 at Stockton (4-for-5)...Assigned to Double-A Tulsa on 8/20, where he spent the remainder of the season and hit .333 (16-for-48) with 5 HR and 11 RBI in 12 games...Recorded 2 hits in 5 consecutive games from 8/24-29.
