**COACHING CAREER** Begins his first full season as Brewers bullpen coach.....was named interim bullpen coach on 7/30/12 after Stan Kyles was dismissed...Brewers relievers were 16-26 with a 4.89 ERA and 21-for-42 in save opportunities prior to Tunnell joining the staff.....went 12-7 with a 4.28 ERA and 23-for-31 in save opportunities after he was added...Prior to his current position served the Brewers as minor league pitching coordinator (2009-12)...From 2006-08 was with Cincinnati as bullpen coach (2006) and professional scout (2007-08).....also from 2007-08 worked with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of the Japanese Pacifi c League as director of North American scouting...Served Texas as pitching coach at Class-A Pulaski (1997), Class-A Charlotte (1998), Double-A Tulsa (1999) and Triple-A Oklahoma (2000-02 and '05)...Also served Texas as minor league pitching coordinator (2003-04). **PLAYING CAREER** Was selected by Pittsburgh in the second round of the 1981 draft...Went 22-28 with a 4.23 ERA in 132 games (66 starts) with Pittsburgh (1982-85), St. Louis (1987) and Minnesota (1989)...Appeared in the 1987 World Series with the Cardinals...Had a streak of 28.0 consecutive scoreless innings in 1983 with the Pirates, the longest streak by a National League starter that year...Pitched in Japan from 1991-93 with the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks of the Pacific League...Finished his playing career in the minor leagues with Colorado (1994) and Detroit (1995). **PERSONAL/MISCELLANEOUS** Is married.....wife's name is Bea.....the couple has three daughters, Emily, Natalie and Jessica, and a son named James...Graduated from Anderson (TX) High School, where he played baseball, basketball and football...Attended Baylor University and returned to school while playing to earn his degree in general studies at Liberty College (VA)...Enjoys reading and spending time with his grandchildren.
