Lucas Daniel Williams…born Aug. 9, 1996 in Park Ridge, Ill.…was originally drafted by Philadelphia in the third round of the 2015 draft out of Dana Hills (CA) High School…he was committed to play collegiately at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before signing with Philadelphia...played for Mike Scioscia on the Team-USA team that qualified for the Olympics last year. Williams went 8-for-18 (.444) with three extra-base hits in the qualifiers. Did not participate in the Olympics.

2022

Traded to San Francisco in March, splitting his time between Triple-A Sacramento and San Francisco before being acquired by Miami, spending time with them and Triple-A Jacksonville...With Triple-A Sacramento, slashed .378/.415/.486 with four doubles and seven RBI in 10 games...With San Francisco, hit .250 (3-for-12) including a double and RBI in eight games...With Triple-A Jacksonville, hit .167 (2-for-12) including one home run in four games...With Miami slashed .235/.290/.313 with four doubles, one triple, and one home run in 71 games...Earned a perfect combined fielding percentage at third base in the Majors in 32 total chances...Smashed .385 (10-for-26) off of righties compared to .261 off lefties (6-for-23) with Miami…launched three separate three-game hitting streaks (April 21-23 with Sacramento, May 8-11 with Sacramento, July 3-5 with Miami)…had his best month in May with Sacramento, slashing .265/.390/.412 in 10 games.

Attended Major League Spring Training as a non-roster invitee with Philadelphia...Began the season with Lehigh Valley (AAA) and was named the Phillies Minor League Defender of the Month for May; played 2nd base, 3rd base, SS, LF, CF and RF during the month...Played for Team USA in the Baseball Americas Olympic Qualifier and raked...he hit .444 (8-18), 2B, 3B, HR, 5 RBI, .500 OBP, .778 SLG in four games...Had his contract selected from Lehigh Valley on 6/8...Made his ML debut as a pinch-hitter in the fifth inning and bunted for a base hit against Drew Smyly on 6/8 vs ATL...later scored his first career run that same inning...Hit a walk-off HR for his first career HR in his first career start June 9 vs ATL...became the first Phillie ever to hit a walk-off HR in his first ML start and first ML player to do so since LAA’s Carlos Perez on May 5, 2015, vs SEA...Also became the fourth Phillie to have his first career HR be a walk-off; prior to him, the last to do so was David Doster on June 21, 1996, vs COL...Became the first Phillies rookie to hit a walk-off HR with two outs in the ninth inning of a game since Carlos Ruiz did so on May 15, 2007, vs MIL...Among players to debut since 1900, became the first Phillies player to start at a completely different defensive position in each of his first four career starts (CF, 3rd base, shortstop, 2nd base)...Appeared defensively at every position except pitcher and catcher...Was on the COVID-related IL, Aug. 27-Sept. 19...appeared in 10 games with Lehigh Valley on a rehab assignment...Was optioned to Lehigh Valley on Sept. 28.

Spent the season with Clearwater (A)...Selected as Florida State League Player of the Week, 6/18-24...Named Phillies Minor League Co-Defender of the Month for June...Batted .333 (30-90), 6 2B, 3B, 6 HR, 20 RBI and posted a .973 OPS in 24 June games...Reached base safely in 20 consecutive games (.353 OBP) from 7/6-31...Defensively, made starts at 3rd base (56), LF (27), 1st base (11), RF (10), CF (2) and 2nd base (1)...Played for Scottsdale in the Arizona Fall League.

Spent entire season with Lakewood (A)...Was T-9th in the South Atlantic League in SB and went 29-for-31 (93.5%) in stolen base attempts...Had a 12-game hitting streak (.347 AVG, 17-49), 5/28-6/11...Slashed .329/.348/.424 over 23 games in June...Participated in Florida Instructional League.
