Combined to go 7-6 with a 2.89 ERA (106.0IP, 66H, 42R/34ER, 60BB, 132K, 5HR) in 24 games (21 starts) with Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre…his .175 opponents' BA was the lowest among all Yankees minor leaguers…also ranked among Yankees farmhands in ERA (second), starts (fourth) and strikeouts (fifth)....Began the season with Double-A Somerset, going 1-1 with a 2.15 ERA (29.1IP, 15H, 9R/7ER, 11BB, 44K, 1HR) in seven starts.... Spent his first season in the Rays organization with Double-A Montgomery…pitched to a 3.16 ERA (37-IP, 13-ER) in 17 apps (1 start) through June 17 and a 2.82 ERA (22.1-IP, 7-ER) in 13 apps (4 starts) from July 20 through the end of a season, but a 9.20 ERA (14.2-IP, 15-ER) in 7 apps (1 start) in between… recorded 95 SO in 74 IP for a 11.55 SO/9 IP ratio, and his 10.98 SO/9 IP ratio out of the bullpen ranked 2nd among Southern League relievers…led the league with 20 WP…made 6 apps (4 starts) for the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League and was named to the AFL Rising Stars Game…ranked by Baseball America as the No. 30 prospect in the Rays system following the season.

Spent the season with Single-A San Jose, going 4-9 with a 5.12 ERA (91.1IP, 75H, 67R/52ER, 66BB, 105K, 4HR) in 25 games (17 starts)...Was acquired by the Tampa Bay Rays from the San Francisco Giants along with INF Christian Arroyo, OF Denard Span and RHP Stephen Woods Jr. in exchange for INF Evan Longoria on 12/20.
