Sam spent the 2023 Campaign with the Sultanes de Monterrey of the Mexican Pacific League appearing in 27 games going 2-0 with a 3.55 ERA (10 ER/25.1 IP) with 29 strikeouts.

2022

Signed to a minor league contract by Cincinnati March 19, 2022...Appeared in nine games across Double-A Chattanooga (7 G) and ACL Reds (2 G) going 0-5 with a combined 10.13 ERA (21 ER/18.2 IP) and 18 punchouts.

2021

Was claimed off waivers by San Diego from the Mets June 5, 2021 ... appeared in 29 games across San Diego's Triple-A El Paso and Double-A San Antonio going 4-4 with a 7.75 ERA (35 ER/40.2 IP) with 46 strikeouts.

2020

Was part of the Rays' 60-player pool at the team's Alternate Training Site...Did not appear on the major league roster.

2019

Former Rule 5 Draft selection rejoined the Rays organization after he was offered back by the Royals on March 23…split the season between Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham, going 7-9 with a 4.10 ERA (131.2-IP, 60-ER) in 26 apps (19 starts)…tied for 7th among Rays minor leaguers with 109 SO…named to the Southern League midseason All-Star Team…recorded a scoreless streak of 26 IP spanning 4 starts from May 30-June 14…named SL Player of the Week for June 3-9 after consecutive scoreless starts.

2018

Started the season with Visalia (A+) in the Diamondbacks' organization, and went 1-1 with a 2.10 ERA (6 ER in 25.2 IP) and 32 strikeouts (11.2 K/9) in his first five starts...Recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts in 5.2 innings on April 26 vs. Lancaster, his last start in the Diamondbacks' organization...Acquired by Tampa Bay with LHP Colin Poche on May 1, as players to be named to complete a trade that sent Steven Souza Jr. to Arizona in a three-team deal on Feb. 20, 2018...Made 22 appearances (18 starts) between Charlotte (A+) and Montgomery (AA) in the Rays' organization following the trade, and went 6-8 with a 4.90 ERA (61 ER in 112 IP)...Recorded a career-high 8.0 scoreless innings on three hits and two walks in a 1-0 win at Jacksonville on July 2...Had a 4.13 ERA (54 ER in 117.2 IP) in 23 starts and a 5.85 ERA (13 ER in 20 IP) in four relief appearances.
