June 15th, 2023

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox celebrate Sox Serve Week – an annual community outreach and fundraising campaign benefitting Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC) and engaging Sox fans and the Chicagoland community – beginning Monday, June 19 through Sunday, June 25.

Held since 2009, Sox Serve Week includes a series of unique, philanthropic outreach events that involve White Sox players and team personnel. In addition, fans viewing and attending games during the week are invited to participate in fundraising opportunities.

Monday, June 19 – White Sox vs. Texas at 7:10 p.m. CT

Juneteenth & Random Acts of Kindness – Commemorating the Juneteenth holiday by supporting local Black-owned businesses, White Sox front office staff and players from the organization’s Amateur City Elite (ACE) program will assist a food truck team from Big Bros Ice Cream in delivering treats, sundaes and cones to employees from fellow Black-owned businesses across the city. The truck’s final stop will provide athletes from the Jackie Robinson West Little League with ice cream at a special baseball clinic run by high school student-athletes from the ACE program. Held at Jackie Robinson Park, the group will teach positioning, hitting, fielding and base-running skills to more than 40 clinic participants. ACE clinic coaches will receive custom-designed Juneteenth T-Shirts, inspired by members of the ACE program and created by local African American artist and muralist Edo (@legomyedo on Instagram). A select number of Juneteenth T-Shirts are available for purchase in the Chicago Sports Depot, the club’s official team store at Guaranteed Rate Field, with proceeds benefitting Phalanx Family Services and its work to provide strength-based social services to disadvantaged and at-risk communities.

Tuesday, June 20 – White Sox vs. Texas at 7:10 p.m. CT

White Sox Charities Day – Building on the success of Jason Benetti and Steve Stone T-Shirt sales during last season’s telethon-style fundraising event, Charities Day returns, presented by NBC Sports Chicago, simultaneous to the telecast of Tuesday’s evening game. Fans can choose from a variety of donation levels to receive gifts in return for their support of CWSC. This year’s limited-edition items include reversable Benetti and Stone-patterned bucket hats, mystery autographed baseballs, portable speakers, tailgate chairs and more. Lunch will be provided for the group from the ballpark’s Leinenkugel’s Craft Lodge.

Friday, June 23 – White Sox vs. Boston at 7:10 p.m. CT

Volunteer Corps Food Repacking & Roland Hemond Award Presentation – More than 500 volunteers from the White Sox Volunteer Corps, presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, will assist in packing more than 100,000 meals with help from the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Held over the course of two morning shifts, the volunteer repack will benefit local organizations addressing the hunger crisis and food insecurity across Cook County. Later that evening during a special pregame ceremony, longtime Volunteer Corps member Joan Morris will be presented with the organization’s 2023 Roland Hemond Award, further recognizing her commitment to others and selfless service to the community. In 2022, CWSC In made cumulative charitable donations of more than $1.9 million, moving the team’s non-profit arm to more than $40 million in cumulative funding. The organizations will gather for a special pregame ceremony, presented by Peoples Gas, with Hall of Fame great Harold Baines, before enjoying the game from the ballpark’s Upper Terrace.
