OAKLAND -- A's right-hander Andrew Triggs continued his early-season dominance, holding the Rangers to a pair of unearned runs over six strong innings in a 4-2 victory Tuesday night that put a stop to Oakland's four-game losing streak.
Triggs out-pitched Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish, who was chased in the sixth after they swapped zeros for the first five innings. Triggs allowed just three hits and struck out five while improving to 3-0 on the season. He has yet to allow an earned run in 17 2/3 innings, the longest season-opening streak by a starting pitcher in Oakland history. More >
"Pretty amazing," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "To do what he's done to this point, I'm not going to say it's a surprise, but it's definitely welcome."

Adam Rosales, who has resumed everyday shortstop duties for the A's in place of the injured Marcus Semien, collected two hits against his former Rangers club, including his first home run of the season.

"Yu was brilliant for five innings," manager Jeff Banister said. "He seemed to lose the feel of his pitches and the sixth became extremely challenging for him." More >
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
A's snap streak: Darvish had faced the minimum through five innings by the time Trevor Plouffe stepped to the plate in the sixth and worked a walk. The A's kept at it, snapping a 15-inning scoreless streak when Rosales belted a two-run home run to tie the game. Jaff Decker followed with a double, and Yonder Alonso's ensuing walk prompted Darvish's exit. Before the inning was over, Khris Davis gave the A's the lead, courtesy of a sacrifice fly, with pinch-hitter Ryon Healy providing insurance via a bloop RBI single against Dario Alvarez. Darvish was responsible for all four runs.

"I had to work hard to get to that pitch, because Yu is a great pitcher, and he was coming right at us tonight," Rosales said. "I was trying to be as patient as possible, and he hung me a slider, 3-1, just got a good piece of wood on it."
Rangers on the run: The A's Major League-leading 17th error of the season jump-started Texas' two-run sixth inning, with first baseman Yonder Alonso mishandling a Jurickson Profar ground ball to put the leadoff man on. Profar advanced to second on a wild pitch, scoring on Elvis Andrus' one-out base hit. Andrus used his speed to secure the Rangers' second run, stealing second and third before racing home on a ground ball off the bat of Nomar Mazara and sliding under the tag of catcher Bruce Maxwell. Oakland has committed an error in 11 straight games.
"Elvis did a great job running the bases for us," Banister said. "He single-handedly stole a run for us."

Rangers: Left-hander Martin Perez pitches against the Athletics in the final of the three-game series. Perez is 6-5 with a 4.79 ERA in 13 career starts against the Athletics.
Athletics: Right-hander Jesse Hahn gets the start in Wednesday's 12:35 p.m. PT series finale against the Rangers at the Coliseum. Hahn pitched out of the bullpen in Texas last week, holding the Rangers to two runs in six innings of long relief.
