The Texas Rangers today announced this afternoon the following roster moves ahead of tonight's series opener in Kansas City.

· SS Elvis Andrus activated from 60-day disabled list.
· RHP Ricardo Rodríguez (#68) recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.
· C Jose Trevino optioned to Double-A Frisco.

The club will make another move to accommodate the addition of Elvis Andrus to the 40-man roster before tonight's first pitch. Outfielder Ryan Rua was optioned to Round Rock after yesterday's game against Colorado.

Andrus batted .327 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI over 14 games with Texas before going on the disabled list on April 13 (retroactive to April 12) with an olecranon fracture in his right elbow. He suffered the injury when he was hit by a Kenyan Middleton pitch while batting in the 9th inning of the Rangers' April 11 game against the Los Angeles Angels, which was Andrus' most recent appearance with Texas. He was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on May 2.

From his Major League debut for the Rangers on Opening Day in 2009 until his placement on the disabled list, Andrus had been inactive for just three of the Rangers' 1515 regular season and post-season games, May 17, 2016 on the MLB suspended list and July 5 & 7, 2017 on the MLB paternity list. Andrus went 1-for-24 with 3 walks, 3 strikeouts, and one run scored over 7 games on injury rehabilitation assignment with Frisco (5 games) and Round Rock (2 games). He was 0-for-2 with 2 walks in a start as the designated hitter for the Express yesterday vs. Fresno.

Rodríguez, 25, will be in his first big league stint this season. He began the year on the 60-day disabled list with right biceps tendinitis before being recalled and optioned directly to Round Rock on May 29 following an injury rehabilitation assignment with Frisco (AA) and Round Rock. Over 12 relief appearances with Round Rock in 2018, he has no record with one save while allowing just one unearned run in 13.1 innings, compiling a 0.750 WHIP figure. Pacific Coast League opponents have batted .174 (8-46) with no extra base hits, 2 walks, and 12 strikeouts. His last outing was last Monday at Las Vegas (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 SO, 24 pitches/16 strikes).

Rodríguez made his major league debut with the Rangers last season, going 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA (9 ER/13.0 IP) in 16 relief appearances, last on September 30 versus Oakland. He had 4 relief outings for Texas this spring, none after March 6, going 1-1 while allowing 5 R-3 ER over 3.0 IP.

Trevino was recalled from Frisco on Friday and went 2-for-8 with 3 RBI in 3 games/one start in his first major league action. He hit a game-ending 2-run single in the 9th inning of yesterday's walk-off win over Colorado.

Rua batted .163 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI over 35 games spanning four stints with Texas this season: Opening Day-April 15, April 17-20, April 25-May 30, and June 16-17.
