Rangers add RHP Jeanmar Gómez and OF Danny Santana on Minor League deals

The Rangers also announced the signings of right-handed pitcher Jeanmar Gómez and outfielder Danny Santana to minor league contracts with invitations to major league spring training.
 
Gómez, 30, has appeared in the majors each of the last nine seasons, including 26 relief appearances with the White Sox in 2018. The right-hander signed with the White Sox as a minor league free agent prior to spring training last year and finished the season in the majors, going 0-2 with a 4.68 ERA (13 ER/25.0 IP). He opened the season with Triple-A Charlotte and was 5-0 with a 2.03 ERA (9 ER/40.0 IP) and 2 saves in 30 games prior to joining the White Sox on July 11. Gómez has 40 saves and a 4.40 ERA (264 ER/540.0 IP) over nine Major League seasons with Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Chicago-AL.
 
The 28-year-old Santana has batted .256 with 13 home runs and 100 RBI over 364 Major League games with the Twins (2014-17) and Braves (2017-18). He has played in the majors each of the last five seasons, including 15 games with Atlanta last season. He spent the bulk of the 2018 campaign with Triple-A Gwinnett, batting .264 with 16 home runs and 40 RBI in 82 games. Santana has appeared at all three outfield spots, second, third, and shortstop during his Major League career.
