SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Royals left fielder Alex Gordon left Friday’s game against the Giants in the second inning because of what was announced as a tight left calf.

Gordon had delivered a two-run single in the first inning off left-hander Madison Bumgarner. But Brian Goodwin pinch-hit for Gordon in the second inning.

“He’s fine,” manager Ned Yost said. “He wanted to keep playing and I just said, ‘No way.’”

Gordon was spotted jogging at a pretty good pace off the field and toward the clubhouse between innings.
