Twins reinstate Joe Ryan from Family Medical Emergency/Bereavement List

Charlie Barnes optioned to Triple-A St. Paul

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have reinstated right-handed pitcher Joe Ryan from the Family Medical Emergency/Bereavement List.

Ryan, 25, has made four starts for the Twins this season, going 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA (22.0 IP, 6 ER), three walks and 25 strikeouts. Ryan is scheduled to start for the Twins tomorrow tonight against the Detroit Tigers at Target Field.

To make room on the 28-man roster, the Twins have optioned left-handed pitcher Charlie Barnes to Triple-A St. Paul. Barnes started last night against the Tigers, pitching 4.0 shutout innings with three hits allowed, three walks and two strikeouts. The lefty has gone 0-3 with a 5.86 ERA (35.1 IP, 23 ER), 15 walks and 17 strikeouts in eight games (7 starts) over five stints with Minnesota this season.
