CINCINNATI – Brewers reliever Abner Uribe agreed to serve a one-game suspension during Wednesday’s series finale against the Reds at Great American Ball Park, concluding an appeals process that had been ongoing for nearly a month.
Uribe was suspended one game and levied an undisclosed fine by Major League Baseball on May 29 for his gestures toward the Cardinals' dugout during an appearance three days earlier. Uribe exercised his right to appeal and continued to pitch, including appearances on four of the past five days on this road trip.
He pitched scoreless innings in each of the first two games of the Brewers’ current series against the Reds, including a 16-pitch eighth inning in Tuesday’s 2-0 win.
For the season, Uribe has a 3.38 ERA in 38 games. He will be available again beginning Friday, when the Brewers start a stretch of 18 games in 17 days leading to the All-Star break with a series opener against the Cubs at American Family Field.
