After leaving game with cramp, Suzuki says he'll eat HOW many bananas?!

A wise man once said, “Monkey never cramps.” That’s because -- at least in Munenori Kawasaki’s calculations -- they eat bananas every day.

After leaving the Cubs’ 3-2 loss to the Orioles on Thursday with calf cramping, is ready to follow in the footsteps of Kawasaki, who is a former Cub himself. Suzuki said after the game that he feels fine now, but he joked that he’ll take extreme measures to prevent this from happening again.

“I’m gonna go eat about 100 bananas,” Suzuki said via interpreter Edwin Stanberry. That’s quite a step up from the daily three Kawasaki said he needed back in 2014.

Suzuki was clutch in keeping Thursday’s game close. He homered for the second consecutive game, tying things at 1, and later delivered a 2-1 lead with an RBI double. He also singled and stole a base.

Hopefully Suzuki’s potassium overload means he’ll be good to go for the start of the Cubs’ three-game series against the Reds in Cincinnati. Friday’s first pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. CT at Great American Ball Park.
