LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers jumped ahead in Monday's tiebreaker game against the Rockies with a pair of homers from Cody Bellinger and Player Page for Max Muncy in the middle innings.
Bellinger broke a scoreless draw with two outs in the fourth by lifting a two-run homer over the right-center-field wall against Colorado starter German Marquez. His 25th home run scored Muncy, who reached on a passed ball by Rockies catcher Tony Wolters. Muncy struck out swinging to open the inning, but the passed ball allowed him to reach first base. The next two batters, Manny Machado and Yasmani Grandal, also fanned, which would have ended the inning if not for the passed ball. Instead, Bellinger hit his 25th home run of the season for a 2-0 lead.

Yasiel Puig threatened to add to the damage by following Bellinger with a double, but Marquez intentionally walked Enrique Hernandez, then struck out Dodgers starter Walker Buehler for a four-strikeout frame.
The Dodgers struck for two runs again in the fifth when Joc Pederson knocked a leadoff double and Muncy brought him home with his 35th long ball of 2018. Muncy's two-run shot came on a 99.0 mph fastball from Marquez, representing the fastest pitch hit for a home run by a Dodgers player this season and the second fastest since Statcast™'s inception in 2015.

Marquez faced one more batter -- he retired Machado on a fly ball to center -- then was replaced by reliever Harrison Musgrave. Marquez allowed five hits and four Dodgers runs (two earned) and struck out nine batters against two walks in 4 2/3 innings.
