Tate Southisene has been a human highlight reel at the plate this season.
MLB’s No. 95 prospect swatted his 12th homer of the year as part of a 3-for-4 night at the dish in High-A Rome’s 13-8 loss to Frederick on Wednesday at AdventHealth Stadium. Over his past 11 games, Southisene has tallied 15 hits and nine RBIs.
The Braves' No. 3 prospect made his presence felt in the first inning from the top of the Emperors' lineup. After working a five-pitch walk against right-hander Yeiber Cartaya (Orioles), Southisene moved to second base on a wild pitch before crossing the plate on an RBI single by Owen Carey (ATL No. 17).
Serving primarily as leadoff hitter between Single-A and High-A in 2026, Southisene has been the ultimate tablesetter. His 68 runs scored and .409 OBP rank first in the Braves system this season.

The 2025 first-round pick (22nd overall) flashed his 60-grade speed in the second. Southisene flared a first-pitch fastball from Cartaya into shallow right and turned on the jets for a hustle double. Three pitches later, the 19-year-old nabbed third with ease, pushing his stolen-base total this year to 44. Southisene ranks fifth in the Minors in thefts in 2026.
With runners on first and second, Southisene delivered his biggest swing of the night in the fourth. Squaring off against righty Ben Vespi, the Nevada native unloaded on a 1-2 fastball for a towering three-run homer that rattled off the batter's eye in center. His fourth dinger for Rome left Southisene's bat at 103 mph and traveled 446 feet, per TrackMan.

While perhaps better known for his bat-to-ball skills, the shortstop has showcased his ability to hit for power all season. In 322 combined at-bats over the two levels, he ranks in the top 10 in the Braves system among qualified hitters in OPS (.884, second), extra-base hits (35, fourth) and slugging percentage (.475, sixth).
After grounding into a fielder’s choice in the fifth, Southisene capped his night by roping a single to center off righty Chandler Marsh in the eighth.
Southisene got a taste of pro ball last season by playing 15 games at Single-A Augusta. Now in his first full year in the Minors, he continues to show off his tools as one of the game's more dynamic prospects.
