Rojas, Cubs No. 4 prospect, hits 4th homer to continue strong Double-A start

May 6th, 2026

had a shaky start to his time in Double-A as a 20-year-old last season. Now with another trip around the sun under his belt, the Cubs’ No. 4 prospect is raking at the level.

Rojas homered for the fourth time this season for Double-A Knoxville on Tuesday, helping the Smokies to a 10-4 win over Birmingham at Covenant Health Park. It marked the fifth time in six games that the shortstop recorded an extra-base hit.

Rojas turned on a hanging curveball in on his hands in the first inning, launching it 102 mph and 421 feet -- way past the fencing in left field. It scored the first two runs of a big offensive day for Knoxville.

Rojas came back with a run-scoring single to left in the sixth. He also walked in the fifth, ending his day 2-for-4 with a trio of RBIs. That brought his season slash line to .302/.380/.587 -- a healthy OPS of .967 with four homers and 16 RBIs. It’s quite a contrast to his .164/.279/.205 marks across 39 games at Double-A in 2025.

A priority signing out of the Dominican Republic in 2022, Rojas has been moved aggressively up the ranks of the Minor Leagues by the Cubs. Now, the 2025 top-100 prospect appears to be finding his footing.
