Dodgers' Single-A affiliate hosts memorable night for Make-A-Wish kids

Minor League Baseball is well-known for pushing boundaries on innovative ideas and community outreach. The Ontario Tower Buzzers, the new Single-A affiliate of the Dodgers, have put that on display in their debut season.

On Wednesday, the Tower Buzzers wore specialty jerseys designed by local kids a part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The white uniform featured a blue “Buzzers” logo on the front and a collection of colorful art scattered around the jersey. The club auctioned off the jerseys after the game, with all proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish of Orange County and the Inland Empire.

The Tower Buzzers, whose name is an ode to the memorable “buzz the tower” line from the 1986 hit film Top Gun, have leaned into their aviation theme and will feature plenty of other notable promotions and theme nights this season.

Mere miles from Ontario International Airport -- hence the name for ONT Field -- the Buzzers will have a Top Gun night later next month. The club will also give away Fernando Valenzuela and Orel Hershiser bobbleheads this season and your usual eclectic Minor League Baseball nights.
