Got a tissue? You'll need it after this Charlie Freeman hug

April 19th, 2022

Hugs are a Freeman family tradition.

On Monday night at Dodger Stadium, #HugWatch had a whole new meaning during Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman's emotional reunion with the Braves before their series opener in Los Angeles. Freeman, of course, spent 13 seasons in Atlanta, winning a World Series (2021), an MVP (2020) and earning five All-Star bids.

It was the first time the 32-year-old faced his former team since signing with the Dodgers in the offseason, and emotions were high. Freeman is known to hand out hugs with the best of 'em, and by 3:30 p.m. PT, Freeman said he was already at about 25 hugs.

But the most awwww-inspiring moment of the night may have belonged to Freeman's young son Charlie, who spotted Dad's former teammate, shortstop Dansby Swanson, and made a beeline for a bear hug. This is cute overload.

Did you want to see a different angle of it? Of course you do.

And here we thought Charlie only had eyes for Fernando Tatis Jr.
