Eldridge posts career-high 4-hit night; up to 9 in past 3 games at Triple-A

As Spring Training came to a close, the Giants sent to Triple-A Sacramento to work on his defense. While the sample size is likely too small to see anything definitive, one thing is clear: Bryce Eldridge’s bat is in midseason form.

On Friday, the Giants’ top prospect went 4-for-5, stacking up his third consecutive multihit performance as the River Cats defeated the Las Vegas Aviators 11-0 at Sutter Health Park.

For the first three seasons of his professional career, Eldridge has been largely known for his 70-grade power. He catapulted through all four levels of the Minors in 2024, hitting for both power and average each step along the way. After 34 games with Double-A Richmond in 2025, the slugger settled into the Sacramento lineup, hitting 18 home runs in 66 games.

The Giants, who were playing .500 ball at the time, called him up on Sept. 15 to make his Major League debut. The subsequent 10 games were not an ideal introduction as he batted .107 with just three hits to 13 strikeouts.

In his second big league Spring Training, Eldridge showed flashes of his game-changing power, but with Rafael Devers occupying the first-base position, the Giants sent their top prospect 85 miles down the road to Sacramento to open 2026.

But with time comes perspective. Now two weeks into the season, the Giants are struggling to get going at the plate. Their .646 combined OPS is tied for fifth-lowest in the Majors through Friday, while their seven home runs as a club rank last.

Meanwhile, Eldridge is off to a scorching start with an OPS of 1.012. On Wednesday, he crushed his first home run of the season, sending it not into, but over the bullpen in right field.

Friday’s four-hit performance marked a career high after 14 three-hit games since the club selected him in the first round in 2023. MLB’s No. 22 prospect may be a long-term work in progress, but his present is certainly scorching.
