Two-time World Series Champion with the Los Angeles Dodgers and World Series-winning manager Mike Scioscia will join fellow World Series Champion and 2007 NL Most Valuable Player Jimmy Rollins as managers during the 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on Saturday, July 16, at Dodger Stadium, it was announced earlier Wednesday on MLB Network.

The 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game features the top Minor League prospects competing as part of the first-ever All-Star Saturday. The Futures Game will once again feature a National League vs. American League format, which was introduced in 2019 following 20 years of U.S. vs. World matchups. The game, which is scheduled for seven innings, will begin at 7:00 p.m. (ET)/4:00 p.m. (PT) exclusively on Peacock and SiriusXM. Last year in Colorado, the NL claimed an 8-3 victory, led by Chicago Cubs prospect Brennen Davis, who homered twice in the contest. The remainder of the coaching staffs, as well as rosters and umpires for the game, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Scioscia, who will manage the NL Futures Team, played 13 seasons as a catcher in the Majors all with the Dodgers from 1980-1992. The two-time All-Star (1989-90) amassed 1,131 hits with 68 homers, 198 doubles and 446 RBI over 1,441 career games. Scioscia, who was the 19th overall pick by Los Angeles in the 1976 Draft, was part of two World Series-winning squads in 1981 and 1988. He hit .364 during a thrilling seven-game National League Championship Series victory over the New York Mets in 1988, and played a key role with his game-tying home run in the ninth inning of Game 4, which the Dodgers went on to win in extra innings. Following his playing career, Scioscia managed the Los Angeles Angels for 19 seasons from 2000-2018 and was MLB’s longest-tenured manager at the time of his departure. The Pennsylvania native, who is the Angels’ all-time managerial leader in wins and games managed, led the Angels to 12 winning seasons in that span, including six AL West division titles and the 2002 World Championship, which marked their lone crown in franchise history. He was named AL Manager of the Year on two occasions (2002 and 2009) and skippered the AL All-Star Team during the 2003 Midsummer Classic at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago. Last summer, Scioscia led Team USA to the silver medal at the 2021 Summer Olympic games in Tokyo.

Rollins, who will lead the AL Futures Team, played 17 seasons as a shortstop in the Majors for the Philadelphia Phillies (2000-2014), Dodgers (2015) and Chicago White Sox (2016). The three-time All-Star (2001, 2002, 2005) collected 2,455 hits, including 511 doubles, 115 triples and 231 homers to go along with 936 RBI, 1,421 runs scored and 470 stolen bases over 2,275 career games. The four-time Gold Glove Award winner played in all 162 games during his NL MVP-winning 2007 season, leading the league with 778 plate appearances, 139 runs scored and 20 triples while recording his lone 30/30 season with 30 homers and 41 stolen bases. The Oakland native led the NL in triples four times, while also pacing the league with 46 stolen bases during his rookie season in 2001. A second round pick in the 1996 MLB Draft, Rollins helped lead the Phillies to the Postseason in five consecutive seasons from 2007-11, highlighted by the club’s 2008 World Championship. Rollins, who owns the longest hitting streak in Phillies history with his 38-game streak from 2005-06, is Philadelphia’s all-time leader in at-bats (8,628), hits (2,306) and doubles (479). In addition, he ranks second in Club history in games played (2,090) and stolen bases (453), and third in runs scored (1,325) and triples (111).
