Hill to make first rehab start Wednesday

Ryu to throw 'aggressive' bullpen session; Martin still sidelined

April 14th, 2019

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers pitcher will make his first Minor League rehab start on Wednesday for either Triple-A Oklahoma City or Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga, manager Dave Roberts said on Sunday.

Hill has been sidelined since straining his left knee in a March 17 Spring Training game. He threw a simulated game on Friday and a bullpen session on Sunday. Hill is targeted for four innings or 60 pitches, with a possible fifth inning in the bullpen.

After Wednesday, a determination will be made whether Hill is activated from the injured list or will pitch in another Minor League game.

Roberts added that Hyun-Jin Ryu, on the injured list since Monday with a mild left groin strain, would throw an “aggressive” bullpen session on Monday.

Catcher Russell Martin, who was ejected from Saturday night’s game even though he’s on the injured list with lower back spasms, will not resume batting or throwing for at least a few days.

“His timetable is a little cloudy right now,” said Roberts.
