Dodgers recall Andre Jackson and Justin Bruihl

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-handed pitcher Andre Jackson and left-handed pitcher Justin Bruihl, designated right-handed pitcher Dylan Covey for assignment and placed right-handed pitcher Dustin May on the 15-day injured list with a right forearm strain.

Jackson, 26, returns for his third stint with the Dodgers and he has posted a 7.94 ERA (10 ER/11.1 IP) with 10 strikeouts and a save in five games. In his career, he is 0-1 with a 4.13 ERA (15 ER/32.2 IP) and 29 strikeouts in 12 games for the Dodgers. With Triple-A Oklahoma City, he is 0-1 with a 2.45 ERA (3 ER/11.0 IP) and 13 strikeouts. He was drafted by the Dodgers in the 12th round of the 2017 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Utah.

Bruihl, 25, returns for his third stint with the team and he has posted a 2.53 ERA (3 ER/10.2 IP) and 12 strikeouts in nine games. In 54 games (two starts) for the Dodgers, he is 1-1 with a 3.23 ERA (19 ER/53.0 IP) and 36 strikeouts while limiting left-handed hitters to a .192 (20-for-104) batting average against with 20 strikeouts. The southpaw was originally signed as non-drafted free agent on July 15, 2017 after finishing his collegiate career at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Covey, 31, pitched four innings yesterday, allowing two runs on five hits in the no decision. The Southern California native has been in the Major Leagues parts of five seasons with Chicago-AL (2017-19), Boston (2020) and Los Angeles (2023) and he is a combined 6-29 with a 6.54 ERA (195 ER/268.1 IP) and 187 strikeouts in 72 games (46 starts). He signed with the Dodgers as a minor league free agent on January 30, 2023.

May, 25, made the start yesterday, tossing one inning before exiting the game. On the season, he is 4-1 with a 2.63 ERA (14 ER/48.0 IP) and 34 strikeouts in nine starts. He has been in the Major Leagues parts of four seasons, and he is a combined 12-9 with a 3.10 ERA (66 ER/191.2 IP) with 174 strikeouts in 46 games (34 starts). He was originally drafted in the third round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Northwest High School in Justin, TX.
