STEM in Baseball
The Amazin’ Mets Foundation’s STEM in Baseball program delivers an innovative approach to STEM education by connecting the fundamentals of baseball with essential science, technology, engineering, and math concepts. Designed to inspire students and support educators, the program provides engaging, hands-on learning experiences that make STEM subjects relevant, fun, and accessible for students throughout New York City.
The Foundation works with Science of Sport to train 80 math and science teachers annually, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to bring sports-based STEM lessons into their classrooms. Each educator receives access to an online portal with standards-aligned lessons, worksheets, and digital resources, along with a comprehensive STEM Kit that includes both classroom materials and sporting equipment.
The program reaches approximately 8,000 students each year, providing opportunities to explore physics, engineering, and math through baseball-themed challenges that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving. As part of the program, AMF and Science of Sport visit participating schools to bring the curriculum directly into classrooms, delivering hands-on STEM programming in dynamic, real-world contexts.
