2013 World Series ratings up +12%

Highest Rated World Series Through Five Games Since 2009; FOX Once Again Wins Night in Primetime

History will be made this week and the drama is leading to significant viewership gains and social media buzz for the 2013 World Series on FOX. The Red Sox are one game away from clinching their first World Series championship at home since 1918, while the Cardinals are attempting to become the first team since the 1979 Pirates to come back from down 3-2 on the road.

Game 5 on Monday night registered an 8.9 Fast National rating making it the highest rated Game 5 and the highest rated Monday night for FOX since 2009. The game led FOX to another primetime win against all competition, something it has done on all five nights of the World Series. In addition, the MLB Postseason has accounted for each of FOX's top six primetime telecasts this season.

Overall, the 2013 World Series is averaging an 8.5 through five games, up +12% over 2012 and making it the highest rated World Series through five games since 2009

Game 5 once again drew massive ratings in both local markets, with a 43.8 rating in St. Louis and 38.5 in Boston. MLB Postseason action continues to lead FOX to increases in key demos including +23% in Men 18-34.

Game 5 of the World Series was also the most talked-about television show on social media last night. Game 5 drew 484,850 tweets by 232,355 unique authors, according to data from SocialGuide. David Ortiz was mentioned in more than 68,000 of those tweets to lead all players, while there were more than 47,000 tweets sent within five minutes of the Red Sox securing the game's final out.

Game 6 - just the third Game 6 the World Series has seen since 2004 - is scheduled for Wednesday at 8:00pm ET on FOX.
