Hayes named Giants' first-base coach; Kelly to third

SAN DIEGO -- The Giants shuffled their coaching staff Monday night, naming Roberto Kelly their third-base coach to replace the retired Tim Flannery. Also, bullpen catcher Bill Hayes received Kelly's vacated role as first-base coach.

Kelly, 50, coached first base for the previous seven seasons with San Francisco. He also has helped tutor players in baserunning and was responsible for coaching outfield defense. Kelly, a two-time All-Star outfielder, batted .290 in a 14-year Major League career with eight teams.

Hayes, 57, has spent 38 years in professional baseball, including the last 15 with the Giants organization. His background includes 15 years (1988-2002) as a Minor League manager.
