Jose Reyes was at the plate when a pitch from right-hander A.J. Burnett appeared to strike Reyes' foot. Home-plate umpire D.J. Reyburn disagreed, but Gibbons decided to challenge the ruling on the field.
After a 56-second review, the call was overturned. That put Reyes on first base with nobody out, and the veteran shortstop stole second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch.
Reyes then came around to score on a grounder by Jose Bautista. That put the Blue Jays up, 5-2, heading into the sixth inning.
