Buffalo Bisons Host Star Wars Day

In a Minor League Baseball field far, far, far away, the Buffalo Bisons, the Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, hosted Star Wars Day. A sold-out crowd wore commemorative gear for the occasion, and the Bisons did too, sporting red Star Wars jerseys with a symbol of the Galactic Empire on the back. There were also some amazing between-inning events, including a fan race against mascot Buster, where Buster was slowed down by Jedi Knights, a meet and greet with more than 50 Star Wars characters, Darth Vader singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the seventh inning stretch and an incredible light show featuring lightsabers.

"Star Wars, like Minor League Baseball, reaches so many fans both old and young. It crosses generations and there's something for everyone at our Star Wars events,” Brad Bisbing, Buffalo Bisons Public Relations Director, told me via email. “The best part is, proceeds of four-Pack sales, the laser swords, the jersey raffles, etc. benefitted a great cause in the American Heart Association."

Additionally, Mauro Gomez became one with the Force to belt two home runs (his International League-leading 20th and 21st) to help the team beat the Durham Bulls, 4-2!
