Can Sandoval Become Baseball's Pie King?

A shaving cream or whipped cream pie in the face for a baseball player is the cherry on top to a great game (yes, that pun is intended). It is the Gatorade dunk of the baseball world, and if you hit for the cycle, snag a no-hitter or just straight demolish in a game, you better have a towel ready and your eyes closed.

"Pieing" became popular a couple years back, and the new tradition has since kept players on their toes during a post game show. Pirates hurler A.J. Burnett is the reigning king of pieing, but I think it's time for a new kid to hold the thrown. Giants slugger Pablo Sandoval has been gaining even more popularity with his pie stints this year. You may or may not have seen the video, but just last week, Panda was in attack mode after Angel Pagan had an amazing game. While Pagan was talking with CSN Bay Area reporter Jaymee Sire, Panda struck. Not only did he get Pagan, but he made sure to get Sire as well, making her the sixth victim of the season. It was video gold, to say the least. Even while he's on the DL, you are not safe!

Since being in a "cage" for a couple weeks now, Sandoval is more than ready to get on the field, and kick up the pie notch. On Monday morning, he tweeted: "Back in SF with the team - So is time to get the shaving cream ready, I have a long list to take care off #PANDAMODE ON Dale." Shortly after he tweeted: "Welcome to my list Brandon Belt lol - Bienvenido a mi lista Brandon Belt Torta en la cara #PANDAMODE ON -- Great Win today." I think he's ready. I want Panda to break many records in his career, but new to the list should be most single-season pie attacks as he is on an impressive pace. Let's all continue to keep track and let the countdown begin. And everybody welcome in the newest Sandoval hashtag: #PANDAPIED.
