Chevrolet named title sponsor of Home Run Derby

Popular summer showcase to be held Monday, July 15 at 8:00 p.m. ET, live on ESPN <br> Event has raised more than $3 million for charity

Major League Baseball Properties (MLBP) and Chevrolet, a division of General Motors Corporation (NYSE:GM), today announced that Chevrolet - the "Official Vehicle of Major League Baseball" since 2005 - will be the title sponsor of the 2013 Chevrolet Home Run Derby. The 2013 Chevrolet Home Run Derby will be held Monday, July 15 at Citi Field in New York, home of the New York Mets, and televised live on ESPN beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET.

The Chevrolet Home Run Derby competition will continue to follow the format first introduced in 2011, featuring team competition between the American League and National League. Captains for each squad will be named and then each will determine the other participants on their teams and personally extend the invitations. Prince Fielder of the Detroit Tigers won the 2012 event in Kansas City.

The Chevrolet Home Run Derby will also continue to raise funds for charities including Boys & Girls Clubs of America as well as MLB's Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program. More than $3 million has been raised for charity over the past ten years, with an all-time high of $615,000 donated through the 2012 event. In addition, Chevrolet plans to award the winner of the Home Run Derby a 2014 Silverado.

"Chevrolet has been a tremendous partner for Major League Baseball and we are thrilled to welcome them to the Home Run Derby, one of the crown jewel sporting events of the summer," said Tim Brosnan, Executive Vice President, Business, Major League Baseball. "We are also grateful to Chevrolet for helping us continue the tradition of using the Home Run Derby to raise money and awareness for Boys & Girls Clubs of America, one of Baseball's largest charitable partners."

"From backyards to the big leagues Chevrolet and baseball have a long history together. Chevrolet currently has the best product line up ever and the Home Run Derby provides a great platform to showcase these vehicles alongside some of the best players in Major League Baseball," said Chris Perry, Chevrolet vice president of marketing.

Since first becoming the Official Vehicle of Major League Baseball in 2005, Chevrolet has played a very active role in integrating MLB into its promotional efforts such as Chevrolet Youth Baseball and Diamonds & Dreams. This season in addition to the Chevrolet Home Run Derby, Chevrolet will once again be the presenting sponsor of the All-Star Red Carpet Show, which will see the MLB All-Stars travel across New York City's 42nd Street in Chevrolet's new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado prior to the 2013 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 16th. The players will start at Bryant Park on 42nd Street & Sixth Avenue and proceed on an approximately 80,000 square foot red carpet past Grand Central Station and ending at 42nd Street and Third Avenue. Chevrolet will also have an expanded presence at T-Mobile All-Star FanFest, sponsoring the popular Home Run Derby attraction. And on television, Chevrolet will also once again be the presenting sponsor of the All-Star Game pre-game show on FOX, as well as the presenting sponsor of the All-Star Game MVP award.

In addition to coverage on ESPN, the 2013 Chevrolet Home Run Derby will be broadcast live on ESPN HD, ESPN Deportes, WatchESPN and ESPN Radio in the U.S. as well as ESPN International beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT on Monday, July 15. For more information, please visit allstargame.com.
