Chipper memorabilia, other items up for bidding

A game-used gift package commemorating Chipper Jones' retirement, seven autographed Dodgers jerseys and the helmet worn by A's outfielder Yoenis Cespedes in Oakland's elimination game last month are among 70 items now up for bidding in a special MLB.com Holiday Auction.

Holiday shoppers will want to include these unique items in consideration, as you won't find these at the mall or anywhere else. Items up for bidding end late on Nov. 26, and also featured are a number of "Buy It Now" items that you can secure immediately, or through the end of the month if they still are available. Here are some highlights of the auction:

Chipper Jones game-used gift basket: The Braves' eight-time All-Star has hung up his cleats after 19 seasons with a .303 career average, 2,726 hits and 468 homers. It will feel a lot different without No. 10 around next season, but here's a great holiday gift that might help a lot of Atlanta fans. It includes a display of his retirement logo patch and a piece of game-used third base where he started; four collectible mini-posters, and a game-used baseball from his 2012 National League Wild Card game finale.

Yoenis Cespedes ALDS Game-Used Helmet: It was a successful first Major League season for the Cuban outfielder, who in 129 games slugged 23 homers, drove in 82 runs, stole 16 bases and batted .292, leading the A's to the American League West title. He wore this helmet in the decisive AL Division Series Game 5 against the Tigers, so you can give someone a holiday gift of the last helmet Cespedes wore in his rookie season.

Phillies Game-Used Grab Bag: The mystery is what makes these so fun. The successful bidder will receive an authenticated Phillies game-used base -- first, second or third -- from a regular season game played at Citizens Bank Park from 2010 or '11. Who knows, history might have happened on whatever base is mailed to the winner.

David Price gift basket: Celebrate the 2012 AL Cy Young Award winner by bidding on this package featuring a signed baseball, framed jersey picture, autographed replica jersey and Rays locker name plate. If you want to narrow it down, you also can join the bidding on his autographed replica home jersey.

Dodgers Dream Foundation Gift Basket: Opening bid is $1,000 on this amazing collection, which includes seven autographed Dodger jerseys and 36 autographed baseballs from current and former Dodger players. It also has a selection of Dodger promotional items from past seasons and a prize letter good for four Field Level MVP game tickets.

Miguel Cabrera Triple Crown Game-Used Collectible: The Tigers' third baseman and AL MVP Award winner became the first player since 1967 to lead a league in batting average, homers and RBIs, and this 24-by-30-inch framed special edition photo mint is a nice way to commemorate the achievement.

In addition to auction hunting, be sure to pay close attention to the official baseball home of holiday shopping at the MLB.com Shop. Sales will be plentiful throughout the season, offering big savings on goods wanted by all fans.
