Cliff Lee Given a Twizzler by Fan

Going into Friday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers, Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cliff Lee was 7-2 with a 2.45 ERA. In addition to his pitching excellence, Lee also held a .286 batting average, a very respectable success rate for a pitcher.

However, in the seventh inning, Lee stood in the on-deck circle already 0-for-2 at the plate. Needing a bit of a push, he turned to some fans next to the dugout. A young fan then handed him a piece of licorice, which he devoured graciously before his appearance. Unfortunately, the piece of candy didn’t do the trick, as he grounded out in his next at-bat. The Brewers also came back to win the game in walk-off fashion, so perhaps the game wasn’t a ‘sweet’ victory like Lee had been hoping. Either way, it was a very cool moment between player and fan.
