Cubs help present grants and scholarships

CHICAGO -- Theo Epstein, president of baseball operations, helped present grants and scholarships to a Chicago-area student and Christopher House during a ceremony at Wrigley Field this week.

Yaneza Aguinaga and her supporting nonprofit organization, Christopher House, were presented $55,000 at a Sun Life Rising Star Awards presentation. Christopher House received a $50,000 grant, with Aguinaga receiving a $5,000 Sun Life Rising Star college scholarship for her educational achievements and commitment to her community.

The Sun Life Rising Star Awards program recognizes nonprofits that redress low high school graduation rates and outstanding students who have overcome significant obstacles to succeed. The program also promotes financial literacy as a means to achieving lifelong financial wellness and stability.
