David Ortiz's Beard Sells for Nearly $11,000
Last month, David Ortiz, Shane Victorino and Bullpen Cop shaved their beards at the Gillette headquarters. The trimmings were put up for auction, with all proceeds supporting efforts to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancer.
The auction closed last night, and the results were impressive. Ortiz's beard received more than 132 bids on eBay and sold for $10,877.77. Victorino's beard went for $3,750.69.
