Brewers Players, Brewers Community Foundation Team Up with Habitat for Humanity for 2025 Annual Home Build
For more than 15 years, the Brewers and Brewers Community Foundation (BCF) have been a helping hand to Habitat for Humanity through an annual grant, volunteer time, and assisting families with homeownership.
This year, 34 new properties have already been built around the city with the help of BCF, other local organizations, and county officials.
On Tuesday, May 20, Brewers pitcher Chad Patrick took off his baseball cap and put on a hard hat as he joined Brewers President – Business Operations Rick Schlesinger, Mayor Cavalier Johnson, County Executive David Crowley, Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity CFO Al Smith and Christine Moczynski, President and CEO of Prime Financial to kick off construction for a new Habitat for Humanity home in Milwaukee.
“There’s nothing more basic than homeownership and owning a house, and especially on a [rainy] day like today, living under a roof,” Schlesinger said. “The quality of work that Habitat does, the partnership with the county and city and our support on behalf of the Brewers and Brewers Community Foundation deliver dreams.”
After sharing messages filled with hope for the future of property ownership in the 414, the crew went to work pre-building walls for a new house. The players signed their names on the wood paneling, leaving their permanent mark and best wishes for the future homeowners.
“Some of the greatest things that we’re able to do, some of the biggest things we’re able to accomplish in Milwaukee, it comes from partnerships. Habitat knows that and that’s why they help to build partnership with new homeowners and other community volunteers and local organizations,” said Mayor Johnson. “I want to thank the Brewers Community Foundation for all of the work they do.”
