Brewers Promote Summer Reading and Lifelong Literacy with 2025 Bookshelf Build
As part of the Brewers unwavering commitment to community involvement, the full roster and coaches annually dedicate a day to volunteer with local Milwaukee-area youth. This year, the team buddied up with kindergarten through third grade students from Lloyd Barbee Montessori School and Greenfield Bilingual School to not only build bookshelves, but to build a lifetime love for reading.
With screwdrivers in hand and conversation surrounding favorite books, members of the Brewers community spread awareness of the importance of summer and lifelong reading while taking the lead on building bookcases that would soon hold a stack of books donated by the Brewers Community Foundation.
“As an organization with a longstanding dedication to serving our community, the Brewers are thrilled to team up with Milwaukee Public School’s to reach the overall goal of literacy, a growing crisis among our youth,” said Brewers Community Foundation Executive Director – Cecelia Gore. “By building bookshelves together, and providing books to fill it, we can support summer reading and lifelong literacy.
Brewers Community Foundation and #BeyondTheDiamond efforts underscore the profound impact the Club has in the community. The most recent initiative with Milwaukee youth highlights how deeply ingrained community service is within the organization's ethos. The front office, players, and coaches collectively believe in fostering a brighter future, which is why their involvement in educational outreach is both heartfelt and significant.
