Johan Rojas’ Special Visit and Phillies ‘Go Gold’ Pep Rally at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware

August 30, 2024

On Thursday, August 29, center fielder Johan Rojas, along with the Phillie Phanatic and Phillies Ballgirls, made a special trip to Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware to get everyone revved up for Sunday’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Night presented by Nemours Children’s Health at Citizens Bank Park.

As part of the event, Rojas visited the hospital’s oncology unit, where he took photos and signed autographs for children receiving care, as well as thanked hospital staff for all they did for families battling cancer.

A Phillies Pep Rally hosted by Nemours was also held in the hospital’s atrium, with fun activities, free Philadelphia Water Ice, and photo opportunities with the Phillie Phanatic and Phillies Ballgirls. Among those taking part in the festivities (and hiding cotton candy from the Phanatic!) was cancer warrior Eric Newton (14, Smyrna, DE), who will have the honor of throwing a ceremonial first pitch at Sunday’s game.
