MLB and Phillies Charities, Inc. Cut Ribbon on Newly Renovated Ashburn Field at FDR Park
On Friday, July 10, as a continuation of the All-Star Legacy initiative, Major League Baseball and Phillies Charities, Inc. held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially reveal the newly refurbished Ashburn Field at FDR Park in South Philadelphia.
The field was renovated and enhanced, with improvements including a high-performance synthetic turf system and upgraded drainage, ensuring that local youth continue to have access to a premier playing facility for years to come.
The event led into the Opening Ceremony for the All-Star Commissioner’s Cup and the field’s first official game, with the Phillies Urban Youth Academy taking on the Cincinnati Reds Youth Academy.
As part of MLB All-Star Week, Phillies Charities, Inc. and Major League Baseball made a combined investment of more than $5.5 million into communities in the city of Philadelphia, with projects that empower underserved communities by expanding access to baseball and softball for youth, supporting our veterans and providing essential education and nutritional resources. The 2026 All-Star Legacy Projects were commemorated throughout the week leading up to the 96th MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard.
